Tanium Deploy Package Building
Production-ready Tanium Deploy packages designed for reliable execution at scale, with applicability logic, validation, user interaction, logging, restart handling, and recovery built around the application being deployed.
Installing software is usually the easy part. Making the installation behave predictably across thousands of endpoints is where packaging becomes engineering.
I build Tanium Deploy packages around the full lifecycle of the deployment: determining whether an endpoint actually needs the change, preparing it for installation, handling users and running applications, executing the installer, validating the result, and producing enough logging to understand what happened when something fails.
For more complex applications, packages can incorporate PSAppDeployToolkit, custom PowerShell, dependency management, staged files, pre-flight and post-flight validation, deferrals, restart handling, and recovery logic.
The objective is not simply to make an installer run. It is to create a deployment that operators can trust.
What We Offer
Application Packaging
Turn vendor installers and internal applications into repeatable Tanium Deploy packages with clearly defined installation, upgrade, repair, and removal behavior.
MSI, EXE, script-based installers, archives, supporting files, and more complex application layouts can be packaged around the requirements of the software rather than a one-size-fits-all template.
Applicability & Detection
Define precisely where a deployment should run and how success should be measured.
Package logic can account for application versions, architecture, operating-system requirements, prerequisites, conflicting software, registry or file state, running processes, and other conditions relevant to deployment safety.
User Experience & PSAppDeployToolkit
For applications that interact with the user session, PSAppDeployToolkit can provide notifications, deferrals, process handling, countdowns, restart prompts, and consistent execution around otherwise disruptive installations.
The interaction model is tailored to the application rather than added simply because a toolkit supports it.
Validation, Logging & Recovery
A successful process exit does not necessarily mean a successful deployment.
Packages can include post-install validation, structured logging, meaningful exit-code handling, retry behavior, rollback or cleanup where practical, and diagnostics designed to make failures understandable from Tanium rather than requiring manual investigation on the endpoint.
Built for Production, Not the Lab
A package that works on five test machines can still fail badly when exposed to different application states, user sessions, hardware, network conditions, and years of endpoint history.
Testing focuses on those edge cases before the deployment becomes someone else’s production incident.
Source, supporting files, configuration, and documentation are delivered with the finished package so your team can maintain it after handoff.
Make Deployment Boring
Software deployment should be predictable enough that the interesting work happens before rollout, not while troubleshooting it afterward.
Whether you need a difficult application packaged once, a library of standardized deployments, or help establishing a packaging pattern your own team can follow, I can build the package and the operating approach around it.
