About
Build Break Automate is the consulting practice of Brent Henderson, an endpoint management engineer who builds, breaks, and automates Tanium environments for a living.
Background
I have spent eight years building API-driven automation and running Tanium in production for enterprise and managed-service environments: architecture, server builds, module rollouts, client health, and the day-to-day operations that keep a large fleet reporting. Along the way I have written a lot of PowerShell and C# to make that work repeatable, from custom sensors and Deploy packages to end-to-end patching orchestration driven by the Tanium REST API.
Most of what I build for clients cannot be published. The articles on this site are the exceptions: worked examples of the same approach applied to problems that are common enough to share. If you have read the TanREST series or used the PowerShell Deployment Automation Toolkit, you already have a sense of how I work.
How I work
- Scope first. Every engagement starts with a discovery call and a written scope, so you know what you are getting and what it costs before any work begins.
- Automate the boring parts. If a task will be done more than twice, it gets a script, a package, or an API workflow with logging and rollback built in.
- Leave you self-sufficient. Deliverables come with documentation and a knowledge-transfer session. The goal is that your team can run and extend what I build.
Areas of focus
- Tanium architecture, implementation, and health checks
- PowerShell and C# solutions, including Deploy package building with PSADT
- Tanium REST API automation and integration
- Patch management automation with Tanium Patch
